Widgets not updating? Troubleshooting

Bounded TeamUpdated July 15, 2026

A widget showing stale numbers, an empty state, or a subscribe prompt has one of a handful of causes. In order of likelihood:

It shows a subscribe prompt

Live widget data requires an active subscription — without one the widget shows “Subscribe to automatically access and track your trips.” If you are subscribed and still see it, open the app once (so it can refresh its status), and if needed use Restore purchases.

The numbers look stale

  • Open Bounded. Widgets refresh their data when the app becomes active and on a background schedule — opening the app forces the freshest numbers.
  • iOS budgets widget refreshes. The system decides how often widgets may update; a few minutes of lag after a new trip is normal, hours is not.
  • Re-add the widget if it seems permanently stuck: touch and hold → Remove Widget, then add it again from the gallery.

The Counter widget shows nothing

  1. 1Touch and hold the widget and choose Edit Widget — it may not have a counter selected.
  2. 2Pick the counter to display. If the list is empty, you have no counters yet — add one first.
  3. 3Deleted the counter it pointed to? The widget falls back to an empty state — re-select a live one.
